The Current Group
Joe Hacia, is the Principle Investigator and oversees the research efforts of the laboratory.
Krishna Ramaswamy and Trish Dranchak are post-doctoral fellows in the laboratory. Krishna studies the comparative genomics of peroxisomal metabolism in human and non-human primates. She is interested in identifying genes and biochemical pathways under selection in primate lineages in response to diet. Trish is identifying novel diagnostic biomarkers for peroxisome biogenesis disorders and investigating potential therapeutic interventions for these neurodegenerative disorders in cell culture models. She is also involved in multiple on-going gene expression profiling experiments in our laboratory.
Xiaoming Wang and Wing Yan (Winnie) Yik are pre-doctoral students working in the laboratory. Xiaoming's research focuses on developing next-generation cell culture models of peroxisomal disorders. Winnie is also working on refining cell culture models and applying newly developed genomic technologies to determine the genetic changes responsible for inherited diseases associated with defective peroxisomal lipid metabolism.
Here are some pictures of the Hacia Lab over the years. We will be posting more in the near future and look forward to adding pictures of new group members.
